Andrew Rawson - a.k.a. Mister 47

Andrew Rawson, a.k.a. "Mister 47" is an illustrator, designer, and fine artist who studied to perfect his craft at the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. He began drawing when he was very young, and the passion stuck. "My mom tells me that I've been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil, and I believe it because it's been a passion for as long as I can remember." Andrew's passion for drawing became magnified when he discovered comics, and he decided that's what he wanted to focus on.

The nickname turned pseudonym "Mister 47" comes from his favorite video game series "Hitman" and his uncanny resemblance to the central character. In addition to comics, Mister 47 also does print layouts, fine art, and web design. He designed this page himself and has experience working with CSS, HTML 5, and other forms of code.

Hobbies, Experience, etc.

When not creating art, Mister 47 reads, plays bass guitar, and plays Xbox Live. "I've always been a gamer, I was born into a home with two Atari 2600's. I remember being one of the first kids on the block with an NES, and it just took off from there."

"Passion for the arts, not just visual but also music, came at an early age. It started with drawing and expanded from there. Art education is crucial for critical thought and development."

Mister 47 works with wet media, including inks, water colors, and water color pencils; as well as working with some dry media. In recent years, he has shifted to almost purely digital, working with Adobe CS5 and other digital programs.

The Pseudonym

"I've always been a Hitman fan, and I almost always operate anonymously. This site is the only one I can think of where I have ever actually displayed my real name. Don't ask me why I do it, I always have. I don't even know why I've decided to reveal my true identity on this site, maybe it was to make myself more visible to prospective clients."

"Working with a pseudonym allows more creative freedom and diversity. I can do art under one name that is completely different from art done under another name. People like to categorize other people, so if I am associated with one style of art, I am permanently compartmentalized as a guy who does that work."

"I also like clowns, which tends to scare people."
